Writer/Director Lapo Melzi was born in Italy, where he studied Italian, English, French and German language and literature, and subsequently obtained his degree in Film Directing at the Civic School of Cinema in Milan, Italy. His thesis film earned him the second place in the short film competition at the Vancouver International Effects and Animation Festival.
Lapo went on to obtain a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the Graduate Film Program at Tisch School of the Arts, where he has written and directed short films, documentaries, and spec commercials. A great admirer of Jim Henson’s “The Muppet Show,” Lapo has also fostered his deep passion for puppetry and animation. After designing his own creatures, Lapo acted as both director and puppeteer, coaxing the inanimate objects into expressing a unique personality through subtle performances.
Having recently finished his feature animation script, Quigley, Lapo is currently developing a feature length documentary about the business of horse slaughtering in the United States and a feature script about the Norwegian resistance during War World II.
